This section-focused structure allows for setting up printing or compiling to a file easy, and any changes to how the resulting output (Word doc, ePub, etc.) looks is very easy after the initial setup. ![]() That can be for final formatting to print, or just because you want it. You can compile the entire manuscript into a Word doc (or other formats including PDF, ePub or mobi). I have backstories for characters that I might move to a more fitting place, OR if I decide to reveal something later, it's easy - and just requires some possible rewording after moving) Yet they are easily moved into another order (e.g. viewable (and editable) as a single manuscript if you prefer. But Scrivener makes it so easy, there's no comparison.Īll sections can go manageable documents that are in whatever order you want, and optionally, can be grouped by folder, yet still represent a single manuscript. NOTE RE THE BELOW POINT: Those separate sections can be accomplished in Windows/Mac folders & files. I just click on a search for a character and VIOLA!. Like this: "John|Jr.|Junior|Doe|stick man" (Note: Word does some of this, yet not as complete)Īs mentioned above, a search can be saved which will show all components that contain that thing. But even a VERY simple "OR" search (using the verticle bar for OR) is super valuable. B, and more), then anytime I click on that, it will show locations where that character is mentioned. Idk they are in an unwinnable spot right now. maybe when they release it though, us new users will be able to provide more bug hunting. i certainly won't be switching until its finally released. unless the beta is seriously crippled as a program, we are probably at the point where bugs can be fixed post release. but because last time they announced it was a flop, they are scared that might happen again. i appreciate how difficult making a new program is, and i don't mind it taking a while to build, but at this point when i see talk of scriv3 i see comments like "its totally fine, just use the beta it works fine aside from compiling" and that just tells me that l&l are AT the release stage already. ![]()
